The Learning Grove is pleased to partner with an award winning wellbeing specialist to deliver an exlusive 2 day programme on managing stress and personal resilience.

Overview

cialis for sale

The modern workplace can be a pressurised environment, managers and their teams working harder to deliver more to meet business needs. When this pressure becomes prolonged or excessive it can lead to an increase in ill-health as workers struggle to cope.

Effective management of workplace factors that can cause stress and burnout places a large reliance on the role of the line manager. However we all have a responsibility for our personal resilience to the reasonable pressure that comes with the job.

The first day of this programme focuses on you as a manager, equipping you with the practical knowledge and tools to work with your team to identify and manage possible causes of stress and burnout. Day 2 concentrates on you as an individual, sharing with you the techniques you can use to improve your personal resilience.

What will I learn?

You will learn the importance of, and ability to:

Day 1

Identify the difference between everyday workplace pressure and stress

Use risk assessment techniques to identify possible causes and take action

Engage team members in implementing solutions

Consider the individual needs of team members

Know how far to go in making reasonable change to workloads

Consider wider work factors that can lead to burnout

Day 2

Understand your own role in being resilient to work pressure

Appreciate the value of management techniques on resilience

Utilise different techniques to help you become more resilient

Identify parts of your lifestyle that help (or hinder) your levels of resilience

We work on a 1:1 basis with leaders, managers and senior executives committed to improving the impact they have as leaders, and therefore performance and the bottom line, whether in the private, service or voluntary sectors. This may form part

work at home jobs

of an individual’s on-going development; the first days in a new role or support during times of transition and change. There is plenty of research documenting the benefits of coaching during the first 100 days of a new role.

Our approach

How we work with clients depends on their objectives. Our coaching provides the catalyst for the client to reach their goals.

For some, the use of a coach is more for facilitative purposes. Working on a 1:1 basis, using their coach as a means to gain clarity, provide challenge, broaden their thinking and provide feedback.

Other clients require a deeper, more intensive coaching intervention. This is for when the client is looking for a real shift in performance, is facing significant change or is going through a period of transition.

Is coaching for me?

You will gain:

Greater self insight

Clarity on how you interact with others

Be held accountable for being the best you can be

Demonstrate benefits to your bottom line

client feedback

“I was little sceptical about coaching, having once tried ‘life coaching’, but your approach to focusing on personal and business performance has turned me into a convert, and look forward to seeing your magic being worked with some of my colleagues…”

Our approach involves 4 key stages:

The most powerful coaching starts with the client having a very real and accurate understanding of their impact as a leader. To achieve this, we take them on a journey to:

Draw a line in the sand - using a Leadership Diagnostic, either self assessment or if we feel they are ready a 360 degree tool, looking at the impact they have on those they lead and others in the organisation.

Set clear goals – about the changes they want to make from the depth of understanding they have acquired

Create and test new choices - we believe that we must first create a new paradigm a before taking action and doing things differently in the live environment

Transition – using feedback and performance indicators to support sustained behaviour change for the long term

From supporting the Bristol Brain Game and helping the charity raise over 162k in this time. The company has purchased tables, supported the auction very generously and Huw Grove has been a member of the local committee.

Huw Grove has also provided free training advice and support, offering free places to Marie Curie staff and team members helping us develop our team to improve leadership skills.

As a charity we have also been invited to attend some of his residential training weeks which have raised additional awareness and funds to support more local nursing care to benefit patients that need our support.

Personal Leadership Challenge

In May 2011, a group of people from across the Leeds Community Healthcare, Leeds Partnerships Foundation NHS Trust and NHS Leeds started their ILM 5 – High Performance Leadership course run by The Learning Grove.

At the beginning of the residential in Ross on Wye it is fair to say they didn’t know each other that well but…. that wasn’t the case by the end of the gruelling 5 days.

They all led a different task; this one saw Maria and Melody as the group leaders.

The task

“To arrange an evening of entertainment, organise a menu and raise money for our chosen charity by selling tickets to businesses in the local area”.

This was initially planned by the facilitators, Huw and Neil, as a competition between the two teams. The team leaders, Maria and Melody, quickly decided to join forces and the charity chosen to be a recipient of any money raised was the Midlands Air Ambulance Service. The rationale behind this; following research it was identified that the local community valued and recognised the need for this service due to the rural area it covered.

It soon became clear this was not going to be possible, and it was recognised that we had to raise the money ourselves… how?

I’ll tell you how, by recognising the talent amongst us: Caricature drawing, Roman blind maker, Car washing, England rugby signed shirt and photo, A supply of organic eggs, various baking options and an individual Indian cooking class. This is how the idea of an Auction transpired. The inspiration for the evening was in the main down to Julie… and her newfound talent as Auctioneer. I think it is fair to say that Julie’s talents made people part with far too much money… but all in a very good cause.

The Outcome

The charity event raised £1,047.50 for the Air Ambulance. The evening also saw the talent of Stream A, ILM 5 showing off their acting skills… but there lies another story…..

Well done and a fantastic achievement for all involved and special thanks to The Learning Grove for parting with the most amount of money.
